Giftiger Gift, 2020

Giftiger Gift, 2020

A few weeks ago, I was offered to participate in the group show “Winter” at Arch Enemy Arts. The deadline was way too tight, but I really wanted to do something winter themed, so I just went with it!
I decided to do a reindeer stuck in a glittery goo on top of a present.
I really quite like how it turned out and I had a lot of fun sculpting this one!

The wrapping paper is upcycled, we tend to keep wrapping paper from one year to another.

It is of course about over consumption and over packaging, especially in times of holidays.
I named it “giftiger gift” as a wordplay between the english “gift”, a present, and the german “Gift”, which means poison.

It is still currently available at Arch Enemy Arts gallery but I expect it to sell fast as I got a lot of inquiries about that one.
You can still request a viewing as well if you live in Philadelphia, as it’s currently on show.

If interested, please contact the gallery directly!
