Clays & Co
❱ Modena Cold Porcelain by Padico
❱ I mostly use air-dry clay now, don’t really have favorites
❱ Apoxie Sculpt by Aves (I don’t recommend using epoxy clay as a general rule)
Occasionnally:
❱ Cosclay (very flexible polymer clay)
Acrylics
I tend to go for the extra fine acrylics
❱ Golden heavy or fluid
❱ Schmincke Prim'acryl
❱ Sennelier (extra fine not the « abstract »)
Colored Pencils
And that’s it, I would not buy any other brands from now on. These are the best in terms of lightfastness, and that’s the most important to me, as I sell my original artworks.
Some Polychromos and Prismacolors are ok, but not all of them.
Colored pencils lightfastness
Watercolor Paints
My go-to paint is Schmincke Horadam, but all of these are great.
I would suggest to get paints that are manufactured closest to where you live and this will provide you with the most competitive prices.
❱ Schmincke Horadam
❱ Sennelier
❱ M Graham
❱ Isaro
❱ Roman Szmal
❱ Holbein
Sometimes I use golden accents
❱ Coliro Mica Paints
Gouache
G o u a c h e
❱ Schmincke Horadam Gouache
❱ Winsor & Newton Designer Gouache
A c r y l G o u a c h e
Between gouache and acrylics, an interesting medium that I quite enjoy.
❱ Turner Acryl Gouache (just make sure you verify pigments and lightfastness, as some colors are fugitive)
Watercolor Paper
- 100% cotton
- hot pressed because I do ink line work. For beginners, cold pressed is easier to deal with.
- 300gsm on blocks (where the four sides are gummed so the paper doesn’t have to be stretched you simply work directly onto the pad)
- 640 gsm on big loose papers so I don’t have to worry about stretching the paper.
❱ « Clairefontaine » Semi Glazed 100% cotton (not on Jacksons)
❱ Arches hot pressed
