Plastic Bottles
This year I worked on a new series of plastic bottles that I painted in bright metallic paints.
Some of these sculptures have sold, some are currently on view around the world and one will soon be shown.
I wanted to write up a small recap of that series, so here it is!
Each image will link to the page of the artwork where you can see more details and pictures, it will also link to each gallery if still available. Though, if you are simply searching to see which artworks are available, a quick look in my shop at the bottom of the page will show the artworks available through galleries.
It’s not the first time I've worked on plastic bottles, and I almost felt it was a bit pointless, as I was under the impression that globally, it had gotten better since everyone knows and talks about that specific issue.
However, I recently learned that, despite tap water being drinkable in many countries, people still choose to buy bottled water, and consumption increases by 5% yearly.
Currently, 1 million liters of bottled water are consumed worldwide every minute. That’s 446 billion liters of bottled water consumed yearly worldwide, taking a massive toll on the environment.
So, it seems I can still cope with eco-anxiety by turning plastic bottles and other types of trash into colorful little treasures. And I find it reassuring to focus on nature and how easy it can grow back.
I hope you do like this series!
