“Doubt” is composed of densely growing white mushrooms that are being covered in white goop. The white goop is slightly shimmery.
The added shimmery goop is what makes the artwork interesting, but it is also what is ruining it in a way, like doubt that can be very beneficial to improve ones work but that can also paralyze and destroy.
Part of the series “I Can”, where I systematically grow erratic and surrealistic natural shapes onto tin cans. The dialogue between each can and growth expresses a different emotion, mood or state of the mind. They are personal and talk about myself, putting into shape what I feel or go through. They are very intuitive work whereI let my hands and the clay decide where to go after a rough sketch of the emotion I want to materialize.
